Adolescents

Adolescence is a time of change for the individual and for everyone in the family. Physical changes, new social expectations, and heightened school pressures are just a few sources of stress.  Teenagers can feel uncomfortable turning to adults because of a desire for independence or a belief that they should be handling things on their own.  Parents and other adults may find that tried and true ways of relating or supporting are not longer effective.  Everyone may feel confusion and uncertainty about how to talk to each other and what might be helpful.  Dr. Macht-Greenberg works to create a comfortable and accepting environment that fosters trust and a good working relationship.  This often helps adolescents have effective individual conversations and to consider how to speak with their parents.

Adults

Life is full of pressures and demands.  Career success is important for both personal growth and financial stability.  Marriages and relationships need time and attention to remain healthy.  Aging parents require special consideration.  The loss of a loved one is devastating. These issues weigh on the daily lives of adults.  Many people feel overwhelmed and uncertain of how to cope. Dr. Macht-Greenberg helps people address these situations with practical advice and recommendations.

Parents and Families

Enjoying a happy family life is important to all of us.  These relationships provide the love and support we need to go out and engage the world in healthy and productive ways.  When family life is positive, we feel grounded, connected and confident.  When there are stressors or conflict, we may feel anxious or angry.  Sometimes we say or do things that make matters worse and that we later regret.  Dr. Macht-Greenberg helps families reduce conflict by developing new, practical skills for improving communication and cooperation.
